Kelly graduated in Medicine with honours from the University of Southampton in 2005. She undertook Ophthalmology training in the Wessex Ophthalmology rotation, which included a period of specialist training in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Southampton General Hospital, followed by a Fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology at the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital. She was awarded her certificate of completion of training (CCT) in 2017 and accredited to the GMC specialist register for ophthalmology. Kelly was appointed as Consultant Ophthalmologist at East Surrey Hospital (ESH) in January 2018, specialising in paediatric ophthalmology, adult ocular motility and general ophthalmic conditions including cataract. She has expanded and modernised the paediatric eye service since this time and has an ongoing commitment to provide excellence in paediatric outpatient care. Kelly will examine and treat children from newborn. She is the lead for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening for the neonatal intensive care unit at ESH. Kelly is an experienced squint surgeon and in addition to paediatric squint, has expertise in the surgical management of complex adult squint. Kelly has presented at National and International meetings, including BIPOSA and ESCRS.
Kelly is engaged in education and training of new ophthalmology trainees, and is College Tutor for Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Deanery.
